I keep saying I'm a new mom, but in reality, I've got a two-year-old – and two on the way. Wrapping my mind around that fact has taken me this long, and I often think about how they wanted to give me four measly months of maternity leave. 

Recently, the EFF rapped its MP Naledi Chirwa over the knuckles for missing the Budget speech to attend to her sick 4-month-old. This is after she returned to work just two months after giving birth. For context, that is an estimated period of eight weeks. Doctors advise new moms that it will take about six weeks to recover from birth; sometimes, this takes longer.
