Victoria Beckham (49) has opened up about her experience filming husband David’s Netflix documentary series, Beckham, saying she found it to be freeing.

“It was quite liberating,” the fashion designer and mom-of-four told the Financial Times in a recent interview.

“I was very mindful that usually, when I did my filming, I would be controlling. But this was very much about David, and so I took the approach of, ‘I’m just going to be very easy-going here’.”

Often viewed as aloof in the past, she says the series has helped change public perception of her.

“People come up and they’re like, ‘We love the documentary.’ Let me tell you . . . they used to be scared to approach.”

Netflix released the four-part series in October last year. It covered David’s iconic three-decade career and his relationship with his wife during the course of it.

It’s been a hit and according to a source has heralded a new chapter for the couple, often dubbed Brand Beckham.

The former England skipper has described making the series, which took two and a half years to film and was directed by Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker Fisher Stevens, as being an “emotional roller-coaster” for him.

But the 48-year-old is very pleased with the result.

“I think we've produced something my team can be very proud of,” he said last year.

This year will see him and Victoria celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on 4 July. According to insiders they are set to “renew their vows in style”.

It would be their second time doing so. The first time was in 2006 a few years after their marriage was rocked by rumours that David had cheated on Victoria with his former personal assistant, Rebecca Loos, during his stint playing for Real Madrid in Spain.

“Their first vow renewal was a very intimate ceremony, but this time it would be much bigger. They like the idea of a beach renewal,” a source dishes.

A recent photo Victoria posted on her Instagram elicited a flirty response from her husband, proving the flame is still very much alive.

The image, which saw her posing in a chic suit for the Financial Times, saw David responding with “Yum”.
