With a R4 million annual income from TV shows and other contracts, Lusizo Henna had no reason to steal from the SA Revenue Service (SARS), said Magistrate Phindi Keswa as she handed the celebrity chef a 10-year jail sentence for fraud and money laundering.
"I have looked at the reports submitted. You were flourishing in your business. You were doing extremely well; there was no need to want to get into get-rich schemes. You have cooking shows on SABC 3," Keswa said.
Henna, 41, broke down in tears as Keswa read out his sentence in the Johannesburg Specialised Commercial Crimes Court sitting in Palm Ridge.
