EFF leader Julius Malema recently argued in a TV interview that he and the EFF would support anything meant to curb and weaken the power of Western imperialism. Ebrahim Harvey writes that this is a narrow and dangerous take on the history and complexity of the invasion of Ukraine.

I recently watched a Newzroom Afrika interview in astonishment where the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) commander-in-chief (just listen to that highly unusual and authoritarian title of a leader of a political party), Julius Malema, spoke on the crisis surrounding Russian President Vladimir Putin, and the consequences of his unlawful, brutal and terribly destructive invasion of Ukraine.
