Former Kaizer Chiefs star Khama Billiat’s progress in the Castle Lager Premier League has been handed a fresh set back which will see him miss out Yadah’s next match.

'Gaucho' was shown a red card as Yadah lost 1-0 away to Herentals in a highly contested encounter between the two rivals on Saturday.

Billiat was sent off for what seemed to be violent conduct, during a scuffle between the players in a encounter that saw as many as four cards issued, with the first being Billiat’s marching orders.

It was only the second time in his professional career that Billiat had seen a red card.

The result is a major setback for the 33-year-old who seemed to be receiving the top form that made him one of the most sought-after players in the South Africa Premier Soccer League and voted the 2016 Footballer of the Season.

Prior to the match against Herentals, Billiat had made four direct goal contributions in his previous two matches with three goals and one assist in two games – a 2-2 draw against Ngezi Platinum and a 2-1 win over Chicken Inn.

Yada coach Thomas Ruzive was still impressed with his side’s showing in hostile territory.

"The guys responded very well despite our one-nil loss. If you check, we were conceding silly goals previously but today we were good,”  Ruzive was quoted by New Zimbabwe.

“We created a lot of chances but unfortunately we failed to convert them."

The defeat means Yadah slipped back into the relegation zone as they now occupy 15th spot after 10 games – just four points above bottom-of-the-table Hwange.

The defeat also brought an end to a run of four matches without a defeat as Yadah had collected two wins and two draws from their last five matches.
