Contractor takes Eskom to court over R16bn maintenance contract

Eskom, which is struggling with the maintenance of its power stations, could face more difficulties as a disgruntled contractor goes to the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on Tuesday to have a massive maintenance contract for its coal-fired power stations declared unlawful and set aside. 

Babcock Ntuthuko Engineering, which until 2021 was contracted to undertake maintenance and outage services for high-pressure boilers and pipework at four Eskom power stations, wants the award of the new tender last December to be re-adjudicated.
