Not yet enough evidence against Markus Jooste to strip membership, says accounting body

The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) has still not rescinded the membership of former Steinhoff CEO Markus Jooste, who is accused of masterminding an intricate web of accounting irregularities that nearly sank the multinational retail group.

The accounting body, which is the custodian of the coveted CA(SA) designation for South African chartered accountants, says it is still monitoring investigations by other regulatory bodies and will proceed with disciplinary proceedings against Jooste once it has more evidence.
