Lesedi FM Presenter Nkunyana Nkunyana has been acquitted from Gender Based Violence charges.
Lesedi FM Presenter Nkunyana Nkunyana has been acquitted from Gender Based Violence charges.

THE Bloemfontein Magistrates Court in Free the State withdrew a case against Lesedi FM Presenter Nkunyana "DJ Skuzabell" Nkunyana on Thursday, 2 May.

DJ Skuzabell was charged with gender-based violence after he allegedly assaulted his wife, Thakane Ramakau, over a furniture dispute.

He was allegedly demanding that their furniture be moved to his new apartment. An alleged fight erupted when his wife tried to stop him.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Nkunyana made a representation to the Office of the Senior Public Prosecutor through his advocacy to request adult diversion.

This after the wife had requested that the charges be withdrawn against her husband.

NPA spokesman Mojalefa Senokoatsane said that after considering all the merits of the case and taking into account the reasons advanced by both parties, the matter was mediated, and charges were withdrawn against the accused on condition that the accused successfully attended and completed an adult diversion program.

The SABC hasn't scheduled DJ Skuzabell since the commencement of his alleged Gender Based Violence dilemma.

He was well-known with the Popular' Keya le Wena' Programme on Saturdays and Sundays.

Nkunyana was recently seen on social responding to the criticisms of his alleged gender-based violence.

"As a law-abiding citizen of South Africa, I respect the law and abide by it. That's why I want to give the court the space it needs for the process to unfold. However, once the case is finalised, I will provide further details. Remember that there are always two sides to the story," Skuzabell said.

SABC Acting group executive corporate affairs and marketing Mmoni Seapolelo said: “The SABC plays a pivotal role in empowering citizens with valuable information in order to create awareness regarding various social ills such as the atrocious gender-based violence. Therefore, the SABC does not tolerate any acts of gender-based violence.”
