A hug from someone we love can fix almost anything. Some bad news, a broken heart or just a really bad day – when you feel the warm cuddles and comforting snuggles of somebody’s arms around you, even the darkest days get a little brighter.
See, according to Health24, when someone embraces us, our sensory system, which has receptors and neurons, sends a message to our brain. Our cerebral cortex, the part of our brains that receive this message because of a particular touch, then evokes particular emotions and we all of a sudden feel a whole lot better.
So when Popiando Vazquez’s daughter Tiara burst into tears in her dad’s car because her friends reportedly called her “bad”, he did what any other macho man and excellent dad would – he scooped her up in his big arms and gave her a hug.
“What’s wrong kid? Talk to me. Tell me what happened?” he asked, as his little girl rested her head on his shoulder.
While she couldn’t quite respond, when she did compose herself after crying it out, he gave her some real advice: “Don’t let them see you cry, okay?”
She nodded her head, “Okay.”
“You wanna hug?” he asked. And after nodding she leaped into his arms, proving that yes, hugs really can fix any and everything.
