Children and adults alike are terrified of going to the dentist. There's something fearful about lying on your back while someone looks into your mouth while all you can see are the bright lights and the sharp tools hovering over your mouth, let's not begin to mention the eerie sound of the dentist's drill!

Dr Eyal Simchi's patients would have to disagree. Going to the friendly paediatric dentist's office is like going to a magic show! Earlier this week, a video went viral showing Dr Simchi enchanting a very young patient with a magic trick involving a glowing red light that appeared and disappeared. The video is now at over 20 million views and has drawn a lot of attention to his practice in Riverfront Pediatric Dentistry in New Jersey.

The video has also made its way to Twitter, with celebrities like Jessica Chastain and Mindy Kaling amazed at his brilliant work.

Dr Simchi credits his father, a custom cabinet maker, for his work ethic and craftsmanship. His mother is an elementary school teacher whose loving and patient demeanour inspired him to want to work with children.

Dr Simchi is also widely known for working with patients with special needs. Dr Simchi was even voted New Jersey's favourite kids' doctor in 2017, proving that a little bit of compassion and friendliness can be rewarding not just for his patients, but for him too.

His office is a little wonderland for children, with its activities and aquatic-themed decor that is a great accompaniment for his magic tricks. His website quotes him as someone whose "heart beats for children", for "nurturing children isn’t simply what he does: it’s who he is!"
