Baby showers are a wonderful time for loved ones of the parents-to-be to get together and celebrate the little bundle of joy that will be making themselves known in a few months or weeks. However, they can sometimes get a bit awkward with colleagues, new friends, old friends and family members all in the same room. Why not make things less awkward by playing a few games to break the ice? Soon enough, conversation will be flowing and new friends will be made.
We've designed a few sheets to get things going. You can pick from four different themes: starry night, vintage florals, pop art and baby animals. Click on the design you desire to download the image.
2. Can you match the celeb baby names with their celeb parents?
Like it or not, we can't seem to escape stories about celebrities, from what they wore to who they've given birth to. Can you match the child to the right parent?
1. Nicole Kidman 2. Khloe Kardashian 3. Beyoncé Knowles-Carter 4. Gail Mabelane 5. Victoria Beckham 6. Jamie Oliver 7. Candice Swanepoel 8. Minki van der Westhuizen 9. Serena Williams 10. Ryan Gosling 11. DJ Zinhle
3. Baby shower gift bingo
This makes the gift opening even more fun. Everyone should fill in the empty boxes with items they think the parents will receive. As the gifts are being unwrapped, the contestants should mark off the items they guessed correctly. The first person to have a full row of items on their bingo form marked off should yell, "BINGO!".
Ask all the guests to bring an item from the year your baby will be born (newspaper, CD, bank note) and fill an empty box with the items. It will make a lovely keepsake for your child.
6. Baby predictions
Ask your guests to fill in their predictions about the baby as well. The parents can go through them at the end of the day and have a bit of a laugh.
Let your guests fill out these printable cards with well wishes for the baby to read when they're older.
8. Advice for the parents
We all have some advice to spare! Let every guest share some wisdoms with the new parents. (A perennial favourite: "Sleep when you can!")
Remember to capture the day on photographs and video. Don't try and feel to pressured to have the baby shower look as lavish as glamorous a celebrity baby shower but rather focus on making the parents-to-be feel special and loved as they prepare for the new addition to their family.
