This Brazilian couple says they won’t stop trying until they have a daughter.

Irineu Cruz and his wife Jucicleide Silva have 13 sons with ages ranging from one month to 18-years-old, but the couple say they won't stop trying until a girl arrives, the Mirror reports.

They’ve been married for 20 years now, and when they were expecting their first born, they agreed that the husband would name all their boy children, and the wife would name all the girl children, which means even after giving birth 13 times, Jucicleide has not named a single child because they haven’t had any girls yet.

In the meantime, however, Irineu, an avid football fanatic, has been having quite the time of his life naming all his boys. Their brood consists of Robson (18), Reinan (17), Rauan (15), Rubens (14), Rivaldo (13), Ruan (12), Ramon (10), Rincon (9), Riquelme (7), Ramires (5), Railson (3) Rafael (2), and little Ronaldo who is just a month old.

“All the best footballers seemed to have a name beginning with R, so as more and more boys came along, I decided to celebrate South American football by naming my sons after the players I liked,” Irineu explained to the Mirror.

Irineu often takes his boys to the community field to play soccer against the community team, he does after all have his own little league. “They are all good footballers particularly Robson and Rauan who are our star strikers. The exception is Reinan who prefers chasing girls,” he said.

Even though she’s a fulltime, stay-at-home mom and wife, while her farmer husband works every day, Jucicleide insists her family never goes hungry. “Every lunch time I cook a kilo of rice, a kilo of beans and an extra-large packet of macaroni. Of course, there are times when things are tough, but nobody ever goes hungry. If we have one loaf of bread, it's divided and shared between everybody,” she said.

She also commended her boys for being well-behaved kids but can’t help but think about the daughter she so dreams of having one day.

“It would be wonderful to be able to choose her name and to finally hold up the red card to my husband.”
