This first-time dad might be a tad overprotective.

A new dad has left both his in-laws and his own family angered after sharing an extensive list of rules and regulations they have to follow when visiting his baby son, the Mirror reports.

After Paul* and his wife, Anna*, brought their newborn home the couple felt a bit anxious and decided to hold off on having people come to visit.

“Neither of our families are super clear on the whole ‘boundaries’ deal when it comes to newborns,” the dad wrote in a Reddit post.

Paul revealed he’d shared a rather demanding list in which he detailed visitation rules to both families.

Some of which included, “Nobody sick come to visit and no children under 18, since schools are a breeding ground for viruses.”

He also added, “As well because my mother is a heavy perfume user, I made a general note asking everyone to either go with light or no fragrance.”

“Then, my mother starts up and tells us that we've been very rude and cold,” Paul wrote.

Reportedly she’d also said that she shouldn’t have to “RSVP” to see her grandson.

While Paul has been criticised for even drafting such an email, he stands by his words.

“I really don't think I was that wrong in exercising my boundaries, and I think that them not listening is proof it was needed,” he added.

“Your kid, your rules. You and your wife need to have a serious conversation about expectations in dealing with family and how best to project a united front while dealing with them,” commented one user.

“Unfortunately refusing to respect boundaries and having a sense of entitlement over the newborn doesn’t bode well for your future privacy and your wife’s recovery,” added another.
