The first month of August is World Breastfeeding week and some of our very own local celebrity mommies are and have been advocates of public breastfeeding and aren’t afraid to show it.

From TV personality Jo-Anne Strauss to Ntando Duma and Rachel Kolisi – we’ve listed 5 celebs who have taken to their social media pages to proudly post themselves breastfeeding their children unashamedly.

Jo-Anne Strauss

Jo-Anne posted a picture beautiful snap of herself breastfeeding on her Instagram page and captioned it:

“Even if it offends you, I'm going to feed my baby whenever and wherever because it's good for my child. If it offends you, look away. It offends me that it offends you, so there, we're even I always cover up when I breastfeed in public. I have no intention or desire to flash you my boob. I wish society would be less judgemental of women who are doing the most natural thing instead of making them feel unwelcome or awkward”.

The UNICEF ambassador is now a mother-of-three and is still not afraid to put anyone in their place for making mothers feel ashamed.

Ntando Duma

Actress Ntando Duma has always been public about how she is raising her daughter. In 2017 she proudly posted a picture of herself breastfeeding her daughter Sbahle Mzizi.

“Feeding her while trying to put her to sleep in order for her to look cute when taking pictures,” she captioned the snap.

Zolani

Freshly ground’s lead singer Zolani is pro-public breastfeeding and has shared several pictures of herself breastfeeding on her Instagram page.

“Because our mothers did it anywhere and everywhere when we were hungry,” she captioned the image.

Choreographer Takkies is also an advocate for public breastfeeding and even posts about breastfeeding her daughter Sana even though she is more than a year old.

” 1 year 4 months and still breastfeeding. The other day a lady asked me why I’m still breastfeeding Sana... apparently, she’s “too old” to be still feeding. My first thought was she doesn’t even know how old my daughter is and my second thought was how many moms get told off like this,” she wrote.

“Mommies please don’t let people put you off breastfeeding on their terms. Motherhood is surrounded by so many judgmental people. As tough as it is, please protect your journey with your baby because it is such a beautiful ride. Mommies who is still breastfeeding and for how long?” she added.

Rachel Kolisi

Rachel Kolisi has also been an adovocate for public breastfeeding and constantly posted about mother’s rights to breastfeed their children anywhere they choose to.

“BREASTFEED everywhere and anywhere. Covered or uncovered.” She wrote in an Instagram post.
