Did you reward your child for their matric results?

This past Friday, parents of matriculants breathed a deep sigh of relief as the long-awaited national matric results were revealed. 

And considering the 0.3% increase from the previous year's pass rate, we're sure that more than a few moms and dads must have had some strategy around motivating their teens to achieve their absolute best. 

Or did they? 

According to a Parent24 poll, they most definitely did. 

We asked whether parents would be rewarding their children for great matric results, and their responses were quite unanimous (scroll down to the bottom of the page to add your vote). 

A few months ago, a young man boasted on Twitter that he was rewarded for his straight A report card with a Rolls Royce. The photo shows him posing in front of a car, which may – or may not – actually belong to him.

His tweet – which probably, hopefully, was firmly tongue in cheek – opened up a slew of hilarious responses. And also raised the question: what reward did you promise to your matriculant or other children for bringing home a good report card?
