What did you and your family do for Mother’s Day this year? How did your little ones celebrate you and everything you do?

We thought we’d check in on social media to see what celebrity moms shared – some touching and some absolutely hilarious. Like Kristen Bell’s Instagram story explain she’d be doing Mother’s Day 2018, “dad-style”.

She explained,

“On Mother’s Day the mom is expected to have breakfast in bed, spend a whole day with her kids, be with her family non-stop. And yet on Father’s Day dads they’re like, 'Peace, I’m going to go golfing with my buddies.' And no-one bats an eyelash and it’s just generally accepted. But today I’m celebrating Mother’s Day dad-style. That’s what my husband says. He says, 'Take a dad-style Mother’s Day.' So this morning I said, 'Peace, I’m going to the flee market.' So moms, please feel free to take the day for yourselves.”

Her story then concluded with the perfect end to her amazing day: An image of her with a face mask, captioned “Wrapping up #motherday like a boss”.

A few other celebs also shared how they were spending Mother’s Day. Here are a few of our favourites:

Mampho Brescia, Musa Mthombeni, Terry Pheto, Zizo Tshwete and Clement Maosa

Local celebs Terry Pheto, Mampho Brescia, Zizo Tshwete, Clement Maosa and Musa Mthombeni, spent Mother's Day with Zoleka Jezile, the mother of the late Akhumzi Jezile.

Mampho said of their Mother's Day celebration, "We are all her children now and she is our mother. We wanted to honour her, to thank her for giving us Akhumzi, and to let her know that she will never be alone."

The Rock

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson also honoured the two special ladies in his life:

Happy Mother’s Day to my main squeeze @laurenhashianofficial, holding my little main squeeze, Jasmine Lia, who’s holding my tiniest main squeeze, Tiana Gia - both our daughter’s middle names are in honor of their great grandmothers, Lia and Giavanna. I’m in constant respect and grateful awe of all the things this incredible mama accomplishes on a daily basis. Here’s a fun small recap: Having a two and half year old and a newborn attached and clinging to her 24/7. Managing the wonderfully fun, Terrible 2’s with Jazzy. The “Hi, I need to eat every 3hrs and preferably from your boob” (just like daddy;) with Baby Tia. Managing multiple family properties. Managing an ever growing staff of family employees across the country. Picking up the ENTIRE FAMILY, STAFF AND DOG and moving to multiple locations AROUND THE WORLD, throughout the year because of my filming and production schedule. All while continuing to build an amazing career as a music and song writer/producer. As an artist and businessman myself, I recognize how incredibly hard this part is of her job is. She’s a brilliant visionary storyteller and lyrically gifted - all qualities that are hard to tap into when you’re managing this nonstop life of ours. But she does it like a brilliant bad ass. And here’s the best part and the thing I’m most proud of... Lauren does it all with a big genuine smile and is truly, the kindest and sweetest soul you’ll ever meet. People tell me all time after they spend time with her, “Lauren’s the nicest person I have ever met”. I always say, “Yes she is and being nice runs in our family... and so does kicking ass, so don’t ever get on her bad side” Lol. And finally - of all the human beings on this earth she could have as her partner - she chose me. One big, brown, bald, tattooed, very lucky SOB. Happy Mama’s Day Lauren. Take a bow and Queen it up - you’re an amazing mama and amazing mama’s make this world go around. #yvpagm x

Gabrielle Union

Gabrielle Union also had a beautiful message about her incredibly strong and graceful mom.

"Mom graduated from high school in the mid 60s & went straight to work. She met my dad & they began to take college courses at night after work & cleaned a daycare after classes for free childcare. My mom didn't graduate from college until 1983. She never gave up, she never stopped working. This is who raised me. She has never had enough resources but she's always made a way.
"When my parents got divorced after almost 30 yrs she didn't make it our business or talk to us about her "side", she made sure we loved and respected our dad. She prioritized our peace. At 60 my mom adopted 3 more kids... she's still going and she's still finding a way against all the odds.
"This incredible woman is my forever inspiration and I love you and celebrate you today and everyday. Love you Theresa Marie Glass Union. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY."

Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba also opened up about the ups and downs of motherhood writing, "It’s a doozy, isn’t it?"

She explains, "Your world gets turned completely upside down. Everything you thought you knew about what was important is no longer. And all the things you once took for granted – like sleep, and sitting down to eat an actual meal – become the greatest luxuries. Little people change you. To love and need someone that much and have them love and need you just as much… it’s the best and hardest and most heartbreaking thing there is."

She continues, gushing over her children and getting nostalgic, "I still can’t believe it, but my oldest baby is almost 10 years old. And you know what? She doesn’t need me in the same ways she once did. There goes that heartbreak again… but it’s true. The time we have with our little ones when they’re actually little is so fleeting. And it’s a reminder for me to be present and cherish every messy moment. Every tantrum, every tired cry, every bit of these days that sometimes feel like they’ll never end. Because the truth is, they will."

Jessica reflects on her time as a first-time mom: "I was still learning about this person I had become. And I felt like everything had to be just perfect. But these days, I’m okay if my baby cries a little bit… because I know he’ll be okay. And so what if the dishes pile up in the sink… and if my living room looks nothing like the Instagram post five seconds after I take the picture. It’s all okay."

Motherhood: it’s a doozy, isn’t it? Your world gets turned completely upside down. Everything you thought you knew about what was important is no longer. This Mother’s Day (and really, every day), I want to thank you for trusting us @honest to be a part of your journey. And I want to let you know that even if it doesn’t always feel like it, you’ve got this. It’s not gonna be perfect. But you’re an amazing mama. And that’s everything. xo. ?????

Mindy Kaling

Mindy Kaling, after recently becoming a new mom, also reflected, but this time on the mother she so dearly misses saying, "I have a kid now who is the joy of my life, but each year that goes by there’s even more I want to tell my mom about!"

She concludes, "What’s one thing you wish you could tell your mom?"
