Make a book. Change the world.

Local NGO, Book Dash, has put out a call to all Jozi creatives to apply for their next round of flash bookmaking.

The organisation is on a mission to ensure that every child has read a hundred books by their 5th birthday, and relies on writers, illustrators, designers and editors to volunteer their expertise to make it happen.

The next dash will take place in Johannesburg in a single 12-hour session with the main aim of making an original African children's book.

All Book Dash books are made available to the public at no cost.

Interested volunteers must be either a creative pro or "top-notch amateur" residing in Joburg who will be available from 9 am to 9 pm on Saturday, 26 October for a full day of bookmaking.

Details:

  • Date: 26 October
  • Time: 9am - 9pm
  • Location: Parkwood, Johannesburg
