Grade 2 teacher, Atiyyah Areff, at Emmarentia Primary School was so taken aback by the sweet letters her pupils wrote for an assignment; she felt compelled to share them with her fellow South Africans.

"As part of our lockdown homework assignment, we've asked learners to write a letter to President Cyril Ramaphosa to thank him for keeping us safe during this time," she told Parent24 in an email, adding that she hopes that the country "finds them as inspirational and heartwarming as we do."

From promising to keep their hands clean, to asking the president to please put his mask on when he talks to us on TV, here's a look at their adorable letters.
