Do you read to your children at bedtime? Do you get lost in fantasy worlds together, fight dragons and build castles right before they close their eyes? We absolutely should.

We’ve written before about the power of reading at bedtime and why it’s so very important for our children. We’ve quoted the American Academy of Pediatrics who explain, “Reading regularly with children stimulates optimal patterns of brain development and strengthens parent-child relationships at a critical time in child development, which, in turn, builds language, literacy, and social-emotional skills that last a lifetime.”

Thirty minutes of reading right before bed can go a long way towards your little one’s development. That’s why Belinda George, a teacher and first-year principal at Homer Drive Elementary in the U.S., started Tucked-in Tuesdays.

Every Tuesday night she picks a book from the school library (and lists their book level and AR number in in case you want to check it out in their library) and reads it on Facebook Live.

The videos have thousands of views from learners at Homer Drive Elementary who watch with their parents, but its success has spread. Children from other states in America are tuning in on Tuesdays too.

And so can you.

Belinda goes live every Tuesday on the Homer Drive Elementary Facebook page at 7:30pm. While it’s already 3:30am the following day, our time, the videos are still up and can be viewed later.
