This man "breastfed" his newborn baby girl and it's the sweetest thing you'll see today

When talking pregnancy, labour and breastfeeding, women take on the direct experience while men occupy a more vicarious role.

But it's always been a point of fascination to some if the roles were reversed. What would the whole pregnancy thing be like for a man?

Enters US-based Maxamillian Neubauer, who was called on to "breastfeed" his baby girl, who the couple named Rosalia Lupita Valentina.

Maxamillian explained in his post that due to complications at birth of his baby girl, his wife April Neubauer needed immediate medical treatment.

“This super rad nurse made an epically killer offer, and I was fortunate enough to slap on a suction-cup fake nipple. Being the first to breast feed da baby!” he wrote on the post.

His Facebook post went viral and has been shared more than 40 000 times.

What is that thing?

The ‘epically killer offer’ Maxamillian is referring to is called finger feeding and involves a tiny feeding tube hooked up to a syringe filled with formula. This contraption is normally taped to the parent's finger and given to the baby to suck on.

In this case, the end of the tube was attached to a false nipple and placed over his own, technically making him the first person to "breastfeed" his baby girl.

The chuffed dad has kept his followers clued in on the whole ordeal, sharing that both mom and baby are healthy and doing well.

The look of joy on his face is priceless. What a story for when little Rosalia is all grown up.

New dads, would you do this if it was necessary? Do you think a contraption should be invented which would allow a father to breastfeed? Tell us by emailing to chatback@parent24.com and we could publish your letter.
