Charlize Berg

This 26-year-old singer and her husband, Warren Linden, welcomed their baby girl on 17 April, shortly after their first wedding anniversary. Charlize says they can’t wait to spend their first Christmas with little Aleiah-Rose.

They’ll be having a beach holiday with family. “Everyone’s excited about celebrating Aleiah’s first Christmas together,” she says.

“A lot changes when you become a mom – but for the better! Christmas time is so much more precious,” Charlize says about motherhood. “I can honestly say my gratitude has tripled and my heart just bursts with joy each time I think of the precious gifts money can’t buy with which my family and I’ve been blessed – such as health and our baby girl.”

Tansey Coetzee

Peyton, the daughter of this former Miss South Africa and her husband, Nigerian businessman Kolapo Sodeinde, was born in March.

Tansey (34) says they’ll be spending the holidays with family enjoying “a lot of traditional food”. She’s excited about decorating a Christmas tree this year.

“I usually don’t because my husband and I are often travelling this time of year,” she explains.

Tansey says grown-ups tend to no longer find magic in Christmas but she finds herself experiencing renewed wonder now their baby girl will be part of the festivities.

She wants to make Peyton part of their family Christmas traditions, such as attending church on Christmas morning.

“And the Christmas concert is definitely one tradition I’ll be teaching her.”

Tansey reckons everything changes once you become a mom and you experience the festive season in a new light. “It’s so refreshing to see Peyton’s reactions. Everything’s new and exciting and to see my daughter’s face light up when she spots the lights on the tree brings us incredible joy.”

Anél Botha

Anél Botha, one of South Africa’s top fashion designers, welcomed a boy at the beginning of the year. Adam Bradford Calver will be spending his first Christmas with Anél and her husband, Graham Calver.

“To us Christmas is about family and spending time together. Grandma, grandpa, the uncles and aunts will be spoiling our baby,” Anél says.

“It’s going to be a lazy day with delicious food,” says the designer who made the gown Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters wore when she became Miss Universe.

Anél always has a busy schedule – she designs wedding gowns and matric farewell gowns as well as celebrities’ red-carpet outfits – which is why she and her husband decided to stay home this year for Christmas.

“My life is a whirlwind and we’re constantly chasing deadlines. That means the year flies past, so that’s why we decided to be home this Christmas and not on the road. I’ll just be spoiling my family.”

Tatum Keshwar

Tatum (35), a former Miss SA, and her husband, financial director Warren Wheatley, welcomed a little boy this year. Christian James Wheatley was born in June.

Nadia Beukes

The 36-year-old actress and TV presenter and her husband, businessman David de Villiers, had their first child this year. David Jacobus de Villiers, aka Davey, was born on 22 August.
