"Forever grateful for the blessing of being called mom"
"Feels like only yesterday that we welcomed you, our second baby, into the world. We showered you with love, kisses and wrapped you in your first tiny little Huggies nappy. I remember waking up that Wednesday morning and thinking, 'Today is the day I get to meet you', and it was. You were born at 2pm, 2 hours after my arrival at the hospital. We connected in an instant. It is amazing how time flies, the past year literally flew by as I adjusted to being a new mom (again) and I continue to try and balance it all. It’s been a wild and exhilarating ride.
I’ve learnt so much about myself and my capacity to love. You have changed our little family dynamic forever and added a brand-new flavour to our home.
The first few weeks were filled with long nights and lots and lots of crying, there were times when I felt overwhelmed, but then all you had to do was smile and I would be reminded that it was all worth it.
The first year of your life has been a memorable year of firsts and developmental milestones.
You started walking at 11 months, and not once did I see you discouraged by your continuous failed attempts to take steps and keep up with your big sister. Each time you fell on your bottom, you calmly and patiently got back up again, knowing that you’ll get there, eventually, no rush at all.
I strive to take in every moment with you and your sister and am forever grateful for the blessing of being called 'mom'. Happy first birthday Khumo. I look forward to many more huggable moments."
