We love Julia Donaldson at our house. In fact, I'm sure she is a staple in many, if not all, children's library's. So when our favourite author published a new book this year, we were very excited!
The Detective Dog is about a dog called Nell, who has an excellent sense of smell. She can find all sorts of things with her nose and her favourite smell of all is the smell of books (my kinda dog!). So one day when all the books go missing, Detective Dog Nell is on the case!
It's a fun little adventure, that my 3-year-old son really enjoyed. You can tell because he kept asking me to reread it. I like that this story has a little moral about not stealing and it had a lovely conclusion.
So I asked him what his favourite part was: "The giant! He was naughty and stole the books. And they went to the library!". He loves the library, although more for the fact that they have LEGO blocks than books.
"Also, the cat done a poo", because apparently poos are very hilarious at this age.
The Detective Dog is available at all major book stores for around R160.
