Hillary Clinton has just made history as being the first woman to head the ticket of a major political party in US history. Which means she’s in the running to become the first woman to be President of the United States.
Whether you agree with Hillary’s politics or not this is a pretty big deal for women everywhere. Entertainment journalist, Jarett Wieselman summed it up pretty nicely with this Instagram post:
But if Hillary wins she won’t be the first female President in the world, although probably the most influential one. The UK just swore in their second female Prime Minister, Theresa May after David Cameron stepped down following the Brexit debacle.

Elected refers to women leaders who were elected in democratic elections, including both direct election and parliamentary election.
Appointed refers to leaders who were appointed to office by a ruling party or executive, and were thus not specifically elected to their post.
Inspiration for little girls from all over
There are so many women excelling in their fields around the world who are great role models for little girls. Timbuktu Labs, a California based company, has released an awesome book called Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls. The book was crowdfunded on IndieGogo and is a collection of stories about women around the world, excelling in their fields. From tennis player, Serena Williams and astronaut, Mae Jemison to surrealist artist, Frida Kahlo the book is filled with inspirational stories for little girls.
