This reader responded to the article published on Parent24.com, 1 in 3 young South Africans sexually abused.
Blokkies van Schalkwyk said: It is with utter shock that I read the article that 1 in 3 children are abused at some point in their lives! I am a teacher at a high school, teaching Life Orientation for grades 10 to 12. The grade 12's just did an 80 mark assignment on human rights abuses in their community. I found it interesting that many of my learners discussed abuse against women and children. The alarming fact was that they found that many women and children do know their rights and who to talk to after being abused. We HAVE to raise more awareness about this pathetic act of barbarism, not only in schools, but also in our society.- SA's noodle dilemma: Are we compromising health for convenience?
